Are you Twittering?

Over the past couple of days I have been catching up on the blogs I used to read on a regular basis and have been introduced to Tweets and Twittering. I have heard of Twitter prior but never associated it with my blog reading.

Not sure how it would benefit me or my blog, I started looking for some posts on it and found the jackpot at Problogger. If you are interested, here are a few posts that I read:

5 Tips to Grow Your Twitter Presence And then I thought, why should I? So I clicked through to this post: 9 Benefits of Twitter for Bloggers and then this one: How to Use Twitter - Tips for Bloggers.

My question is, are you Twittering (and if you are what are you gaining from it)? The last time that I freelanced full time, I remember all too well how easy it is to procrastinate. My fear of joining the Twitter community is that I am already finding ways to put off writing.

So leave me a comment, should I Twitter or not??

Lucky Number 3

If you are reading this - thank you for still stopping by!! I must admit I have not been the most faithful blogger since last July but here is to starting anew (for the third time). Between having baby number 3 (isn't he cute??) and my husband breaking both of his hands in a car accident (when baby number 3 was only 2 weeks old) I have had no time to think or put coherent sentences together.

Things are still hectic in my household, but I don't see that changing because I now have 3 kids and am relaunching my writing career (again).

3 Roars for Powerful Words

My first meme after being back! Thank you to Katharine from Swan's Blog for tagging me and staying on me to start blogging again.

The meme is called A Roar For Powerful Words and I am supposed to list 3 things that I believe make writing online and for the web powerful.

1. Write naturally - Use words that come naturally to you and develop your own writing voice. Leave tidying up your work for revisions; get your thoughts out without censoring yourself in the process.

2. Don't be long-winded - Cover your topic but don't keep writing for the sake of increasing the word count. Your writing will suffer because of it (and your readers will lose interest).

3. Have some fun - Whether it is conversing with friends via letters or e-mail or writing daily in a journal; take the time to write for yourself.

Library Time

Tomorrow is going to mark my first weekly outing to the library. I told my husband that once a week (even after - no, especially after the new baby comes) that I will be heading out to the library by myself. My local library has a great quiet section with dozens of different magazines (back copies you can borrow and the newest ones to browse while you relax).

This is going to be my research time. After taking so much time off from writing queries I feel woefully out of the loop. This will hopefully get my creative juices flowing again and the queries out there into the hands of the right editors.

Old Blogs, New Blogs; Old Queries, New Queries

It has been great reconnecting with all of my blogging friends and finding some new ones out there. Thanks for the overwhelming welcome back!

I have started blogging for DailyPixel Network again. In addition to resuming my role as co-blogger on Superwoman.ca, I have also started blogging on these great blogs too:

Stylish.ca
2010Vancouver.ca

I am thankful that I am the kind of person that loves to organize. I have all my query ideas that never made it into queries and actual queries that never made it into articles categorized and easy to find. I haven't revamped any yet to send out to new markets, but it is on tomorrow's list of things to do. I'm aiming to have two sent out by the end of the week.

Who else has joined up for the 2008 Query Challenge (that started today)?

6 Months!

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted here. Needless to say, life got overwhelming for me - going back to work full-time, trying to spend time with my boys and being pregnant. That left no time for writing, and I have been missing it.

I am home now, hopefully for good this time. I was going to slowly get back into the freelancing life but when I started visiting my favorite blogs, I noticed that the 2008 Query Challenge is beginning on Monday and so I signed up. What better way to restart my writing career than with Kristen King's 2nd Annual Challenge and her great motivation and advice?

Oh, and baby number 3 has not made an appearance yet - I am very big, very uncomfortable and still very pregnant!

I hope to reconnect with all of you and look forward to catching up on more of my daily blog reads.

Query Time

It is a holiday today in Canada, yesterday was Canada Day. For over a year the long weekends weren't that special to me but today is because I get to spend one more day at home before going to work tomorrow.

I am an optimist at heart (or try to be) so here is what I am looking forward to on the big day:

  • Two dedicated hours of query writing and brainstorming. I will be taking a commuter train into work and it is a very nice ride - tables, cushy chairs, and outlets in case my computer runs out of juice.
  • Seeing my work friends that I have lost touch with over the past 14 months.
  • Getting a treat at Mink Chocolate.
  • Being close to cool shops (and having enough money to buy mama a new pair of shoes!)

Of course the crushing guilt and the heartache from leaving my boys is not going to be easy but you have to look at the little bright bits to get through the tough times.
